CHAPTER 1

HOME PARTIES

will be the foundation on which your business is built. In the beginning it will be the main source of your income until your Down line commissions exceed the income you make conducting Parties.

Please read again because it will be a Test Question.

 WHY WE LOVE TO PARTY

You can earn $250.00 - $500.00 and more per Party. Why?  Because you are taking orders from a group. Selling to a group is more profitable compared to making individual sales.     It takes about 2-21/2 hours to conduct a Party and there's no waiting for a check because you pay yourself immediately after each Party. You could earn a weeks salary conducting 1-2 Parties when you know how, and you are about to learn how!. Before we get into how you can earn that type of money please keep the following in mind:

Most Consultants do not start out conducting $500.00 or $1000.00 Parties. They put in practice what you are about to learn and then go on to conduct huge Parties eventually.

Chances are your experience will be the same so let's take a look at the kind of money you can make with smaller Parties:

  •  Conduct 4 Parties averaging $250.00 each and you'll earn $400.00
  • Conduct 4 Parties averaging $500.00 each and you'll earn $800.00
  • Conduct 4 Parties averaging $800.00 each and you'll earn: $1,920.00

As you can see, you can earn a substantial income conducting only Parties. However, if your goal is to earn a six figure income  Parties will be the main source of your income until your Down line Commissions exceed the income you make conducting Parties.

Here's something you should never forget:

1 . Your Parties will also be the source from which you Book/Schedule future Parties to continue the process.

2 . It's also the source to locate prospective Beauty Consultants to develop your own Team of Consultants which will lead to you earning additional income in Down line/Team Commissions which could lead to you earning a six figure income later.

GETTING STARTED

Many Consultants start out hosting their own Party. You could do the same so this means at your Party,  you'll be the Hostess and Beauty Consultant so plan accordingly.

First, make a list of your friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, church members, club members  to send an invitation. In fact you should consider your first Party as your "COMING OUT PARTY." It will also  be your practice run before doing the next Party.

Allow about two weeks for planning and contacting the people you intend to invite. Later we'll talk about the invitations for your Party. Keep in mind your guests will need enough time to make plans of their own so they  can attend.

Ways To Get Party Bookings

Not all the people you invite will be able to attend your Party, and that's just fine. Why? Because, those that can't attend will be the first ones you ask to Host a Party for you. You could say something like, sorry you can't attend my Party, so how about Hosting one for me?

Let them know they will be helping you launching your business and they will receive FREE Skin Care and Make-Up as Hostess Gifts based on how much is sold and how many of her friends agree to host a Party for you.

Proceed to tell them about the Products that they'll receive as Hostess Gifs. Some will say yes,  so go ahead and immediately set a date. Some may be hesitant to set the date there and then,  if that happens, set a TENTATIVE DATE because most of the prospective Hostesses that are hesitant to set a date on the spot will agree to a TENTATIVE DATE, but guess what? The majority  of them never change that date, so always go for a Tentative date when you can't agree on a definite date.

More Ways To Get Party Bookings

1 . Send a catalog to a co-worker that has moved and ask her to host a Party for you

 2.  Host a show before or during a PTA meeting.

 3.  Post a catalog in the teachers lounge at your child's school.

 4.  Post a catalog in the employee lunch room.

 5.  Hold an Open House

 6.  Have a booth a school fair

 7.  Give a Catalog to the receptionist at your doctor's or dentist's office

 8.  Ask your friends for referrals

 9.  Ask Church and Club Members for Parties
.

CHAPTER 2

HOSTESS COACHING

A successful Party begins with great Hostess Coaching

Once your Hostess agrees to Host a Party for you, the first thing you should do is give her a "HOSTESS PACKAGE" which should include:

  • 2 or 3 Hostess Guest Lists for her to list the names and addresses of the people she would like to attend her Party.

  • A few Catalogs for her to get outside Orders from those friends that won't be able to attend the Party.

  • A few Invitations for personal delivery to friends who she can't get an immediate address

  • Your Business contact card

Next, find out from her what items she would like as "HOSTESS GIFTS" to determine how much sales will be needed for her to qualify for her Gifts.

Let's assume she wants $100.00 in products, you should let her know we will need a minimum of $500.00 (20%) in sales with one or more Bookings. Note it's we, you are now making her your Partner. If it's necessary, reassure her you will do your best to ensure that she receives the Gifts she wants and then proceed to write her Gifts at the bottom of the Guest List. This is very important, later it will serve as a reminder to your Hostess as to what the Sales Goal for her Party is and that will certainly have a bearing on how much is sold.

Once that is out the way, go over the contents of the Guest package with her explaining the purpose of each item. Ask her to use the Catalogs to get outside Orders from those friends that won't be able to attend and anyone else she can think of.

Each Party should be planned at least two weeks ahead of the given date, one week is not enough and going beyond two weeks is too far out. Why? Your Hostess could loose her enthusiasm resulting in a cancellation. Talking about cancellations, it will happen and the best way to handle that is to reschedule.

OK, The Hostess and you have set a party date, you have given her  the Hostess Package for her to complete the Guest List and return it to you as quickly as possible.

It is very important you get the Guests List because you'll have to mail an invitation to each person on the List at least ten days before the Party. Immediately after you mail the invitations contact your Hostess to let her know they are in the mail. You'll come to discover it's at that point that your Hostess really get serious about her Party, she's now committed because the invitations are out. [less chance of cancellations also]

REMEMBER: Until the invitations are in the mail you don't have a Party Booked.

OK, so the invitations are out, the count down to your Party is on, what do you do in the mean time?  Stay in touch with your Hostess without being a nuisance. Be excited about her Party whenever you call her because you want her to be excited and she will get excited if you are excited. Find out if she has any questions, how things are coming along with the outside orders and if she heard from any of her friends that the invitations were sent to.  If you haven't already done so you should discuss what she should serve her Guests. Some Hostesses will want put on a big spread, but encourage them  to have light refreshments like Chips and Salsa, Veggies and Dips, Punch and water  to keep the cost down.

Don't have a Hostess going to any great expense because when you ask her Guests on the day of the Party to host a Party of their own they may hesitate because they'll assume they'll also have to put on a big spread.

CHAPTER  3

                    IT'S PARTY TIME

It’s the day of your first Beauty Sensation Party! Call your Hostess early to ensure the Party is a go. You are ready to blast off, but first things first. You want to look the part. You want to look like a BEAUTY SENSATION wearing a fashionable Black and white outfit, your face is well done, not overly done, your Demonstrator Kit is spotless, you have all your supplies including a Calculator, your Hostess "Booking Gift" and "SAY YES GIFTS" for those Guests that give you a Party date during the Party.

While you are getting dressed or on your way to the Party listen to the CD that came with your Kit to get into a positive frame of mind.  You want to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before show time enthused and rearing to go.

REMEMBER, if you are excited it will rub off on everyone. People like to be around and do business with an enthused Consultant. Once you arrive you should put your Hostess at ease. She will be excited with last minute preparations and worrying how many of her friends will show. Once she's calm, find out where she wants you to set up and proceed to do that before her guests start to arrive. Keep in mind you'll be making up faces so you want to be in a well lit area so the guests can see the Makeup.

Each Party should be at least $250.00 with one Party Booking (one Guest agreeing to host a Party of her own) for your Hostess to qualify for 20% of the Sales including outside orders. If there is no Booking or the sales is below $250.00 the Hostess will qualify for 15%. You should ensure each Hostess is aware of this because the success of your Party rest on her knowing this.

Think about this, each time a Hostess brings together her friends she is giving you an opportunity to BOOK, RECRUIT and SELL and to top it off she even sells for you taking outside orders. Could one ask for more? Make the most of each Party, BOOK, RECRUIT and SELL to build your business.

Now that you know the Party is the heart and soul of your business, your goal is to conduct successful Parties and a successful Party begins with great Hostess Coaching which is preparing your Hostess to ensure her Party is successful in Bookings, Recruiting and Sales.

NOTE: Beauty Sensation will cover two thirds of the cost of your Hostess Gift and you cover the remaining third. e.g. If your Hostess Gift is $90.00 Beauty Sensation picks up $60.00 and you cover the balance ($30.00)

GREETING THE GUESTS

As the Guests arrive, greet them warmly, introduce yourself as their Beauty Consultant and ask  their names. Try to meet and greet everyone before the Party starts because you want to engage each Guest in small talk to relax yourself. Do not spend too much time with any one Guest, move around and chat with everyone for a few minutes.

Why are you doing this? So that by the time you are ready to get started everyone will feel comfortable with you and you will feel comfortable with them.  It cannot be over-emphasized how important this is. Last, but very important, each Guest will be looking at your Makeup and the way you conduct yourself. If they like what they see they'll be eager to business with you and some of them will want to do what you are doing. Be polite, be professional, be considerate, be proud of what you are doing, be a BEAUTY SENSATION.

Remember, you want the Guests to look at you and be thinking, I would love to do what she is doing. Look like the Star of the Show but treat the Hostess and her Guests as Stars. Do that, and you will be a Winner my friend.

PRE-SELECTING YOUR DEMO MODELS

By the way, while you are meeting and greeting the Guests as they arrive, one of the things you should do is pre-select two guests that you'd like to be your Models to demonstrate your products but don't tell anyone. One model for Skin Care and one for Makeup. Stay relaxed and project how enthusiastic and excited you are about the business and the products. Remember, do not spend too much time with any one Guest, move around, chat with everyone for a few minutes so by the time you are ready to get started everyone feels comfortable.

OK, it's time to start the Party but your Hostess ask you to hold off because she doesn't want to start until a dear friend gets there. Fine, but, you don't want to keep those present waiting too long; so what do you do? PLAY PARTY GAMES.

IT'S TIME TO PLAY PARTY GAMES

Get everyone together in the room or area where your Demo will take place and inform them we are going to start with a Game or two. The Games helps you to buy time while you wait for the late arrivals, helps to relax you and the guests, generate sales, recruiting and Booking Parties. (More to come about Party Games.) You decide how long the Games will go on, but keep in mind they shouldn't  be too long. Ok, the late arrivals are there now and you have decided to get started. Now you can see why it was so important that you got acquainted earlier, meeting them and playing the Party games.

CHAPTER 4

YOUR OPENING REMARKS

Good evening ladies, my name is (YOUR NAME) and I'm your Beauty Sensation Consultant this evening/morning/tonight. First I'd like to THANK our Gracious Hostess (her name) for inviting us in her lovely home. I would also like to thank each of you for coming. We'll be having a Beauty Sensation "HOW TO" Skin Care and Makeup Demonstration. During the demonstrations I'll explain step by step how you can attain beautiful, healthy glowing skin using our Cutting Edge Skin Care, and I’ll show you how to quickly and easily apply your Makeup.

Before we get started I'd like to tell you a little about myself and Beauty Sensation. TELL YOUR STORY as to how you got started, what you like about the products and  what you hope to get out of the business.

Telling your story is very important. It helps to make you feel more relaxed and as a result the guests will feel more comfortable with you and as a result  you will have a more successful Party.

Tell them Beauty Sensation's objective is to offer Skin Care and Makeup of the highest quality, teach women how to have beautiful skin, learn how to apply their Makeup and provide an opportunity for those women that could see themselves doing what you are doing, while earning an extra income and making new friends. So, if any of you ladies would like to know how you can join our Team, please let me know later.

By sharing that information during your show you will come across to the audience as a professional. Others looking at you and hearing you speak about your business with passion is a sure fire way to get 1-2 recruits or more at parties! So do your homework, learn your business, know your products, be Polite, be Professional.

At this time you will probably want to let them know we need at least two party bookings, and sales over $250.00, $350.00  (or a larger amount if you have a large audience, you decide) so their Hostess, can earn her full Hostess Credit. Next, establish a delivery date for their orders by asking them "Is one week or two weeks convenient for the delivery date?" Go with the majority to set the date and start passing around order forms and catalogs.

IT'S VERY IMPORTANT you set a Delivery Date. Here's why: When the Guests realize they have time to pay they will place larger orders. However, when you are taking their orders, try to get fifty percent deposit or full payment from  as many of them as possible.

Also let them know, if anyone has to leave before the demo is over. She can leave her order with the Hostess who is now your assistant. She should take a deposit from her and give her the delivery date for the balance.

If you have products on hand including the "MAKEUP DVD" inform the guests because some of them will want to buy something, especially Makeup. This is impulsive buying and it can boost your sales.

CHAPTER 5

The Party Demonstration

To start your demonstration, inform the Guests you'll need 2 models to get started. Pause for a few seconds and before anyone responds quickly say "how about you Pat and you Mary," pointing to the two models you had pre-selected.

Let's talk about the selection of your two models and the Demonstration before going any further. The first model will be your SKIN CARE MODEL to help you sell Skin Care (Kits) and the other will be your MAKE-UP MODEL to help you sell Make-up.

The Demonstrations give your audience an opportunity to learn skin care, make-up application and to see how the products look . For you, the Demonstration gives you the opportunity sell Skin Care (Kits) by you DEMONSTRATING and explaining the BENEFITS of each product as you go along. The models you choose play a significant roll to help you teach, demonstrate and sell.

TEACH TO SELL

To sell your Skin Care Kit ( CLEANSER, TONER MOISTURIZER, MASQUE and FOUNDATION) you talk about the BENEFITS of using each product while you demonstrate explaining how it's done step by step and what it will do for each guest.

You are teaching to sell by telling them what the BENEFITS of each product is and how it should be applied. TEACH TO SELL and remember PRODUCT BENEFITS SELL

Let's get back to the Demonstration

Ask your Skin Care Model to take a seat facing the guests and tell the guests you are going to Makeup both models and explain as you go along. Ask them to pay close attention because you are going to ask them to tell you what product should be used when you Make-up the second model. You do this to get their attention so they will learn. When they learn they will order.

A Beautiful Face Starts With Beautiful Skin

To start your demonstration, the first thing you do is look at your models face to get an idea what type of skin she has but instead of telling her you turn to her and ask "what type of skin do you think you have? Don't try to figure it out before asking her, suppose she's wearing a heavy moisturizer or she has a oil based foundation on her face?

Chances are she'll tell you she has Combination Skin because most women do. (More on this later) Now that you know her skin type turn to the Guests and say "Ladies, a beautiful face starts with beautiful skin. There are 4 STEPS to having beautiful, healthy glowing skin: CLEANSING, TONING, MOISTURIZING and using a MASQUE once or twice weekly."

  • We should use a CLEANSER

  • TONER,  and a MOISTURIZER in the mornings and at night before retiring

  • And a MASQUE based on your skin type once or twice weekly .

After making that statement, pick up your Cleanser and tell them that for Pat our model  I'm using the Deep Pore Cleanser because she has combination skin and this Cleanser can be used for NORMAL, COMBINATION and dry skin. IMPORTANT: Let them know when you speak with them individually after the demonstration you’ll tell them what products (Kit) they should use based on their skin type.

Proceed by using a Sanitizer to cleanse your hands or excuse yourself to wash your hands pointing out to them the hands should be clean before touching the face.

STEP 1: CLEANSE * [ skin care model first ] Next pour a little CLEANSER in your left hand and rub both hands together to take the chill off the Cleanser and for better distribution over her face. Using upward and outward strokes pass the CLEANSER over your model’s face and tell them the Deep Pore Cleanser is: an  effective cleanser formulated  to deep clean and penetrate the pores while reducing surface bacteria. DO NOT massage the Cleanser into the skin and while you are doing that draw it to your audience's attention that they should apply their CLEANSER going upward and outward without massaging it into the skin. Next remove the Cleanser with tissue going upward and outward. point out to them at home you would wash off with warm water.

Before apply the Cleanser on your model protect her clothing with a towel or cape, and ask her to remove her lipstick, Use a makeup remover for her eye make up or Vaseline to completely remove all traces of color and mascara from her eyelids.

STEP 2: MASQUE * After Cleansing, use a spatula to remove masque from the jar, apply masque above the eyebrow and below the cheekbone using your index finger. Using upward and outward strokes apply to entire face leaving out the eye area.

Benefits: Tell your audience the Masque is like a vacuum cleaner. It absorbs deep seated impurities, dirt and grime resulting in beautiful, healthy glowing skin.  After applying the Masque have the model sit in audience while the masque dries and proceed by calling up your second model to demonstrate your Make-up and teach how to apply it by asking them to tell what to do step by step.

Carry headbands to put on your model to avoid the masque going into her hair when she’s washing it off.

POSSIBLE TEST QUESTIONS

1. How many models will you need for a party demonstration? [1]  [2] [3]   Answer: 2

5. Combination skin is the most common skin type? True or false?

6. To get the Party guests attention so they will learn, you ask them to pay close attention because you are going to ask them to tell you what product should be used when you Make-up the second model . True or False?

CHAPTER 6

         Make Up Model

Previously mentioned but now your audience will tell you what to do next:

STEP 1:  CLEANSER

"Ladies, a beautiful face starts with beautiful skin". Ask her "what type of skin do you think you have"? Proceed by using a Sanitizer to cleanse your hands.

Next pour a little CLEANSER in your left hand and rub both hands together to take the chill off the Cleanser and for better distribution over her face. Using upward and outward strokes pass the CLEANSER over her face.

DO NOT massage it into the skin and while you are doing that draw it to your audience's attention that they should apply their CLEANSER going upward and outward without massaging it into the skin. Next remove the Cleanser with tissue going upward and outward. Point out to them at home they would wash off the Cleanser with warm water.

Before applying cleanser on model. drape her with a cape, ask her to remove her lipstick, Use a makeup remover for her eye make up or Vaseline to completely remove all traces of color and mascara from her eyelids.

STEP 2: TONING  After cleansing, apply liberally with cotton pad using upward and outward strokes while the benefits of a Toner. Wipe gently over face and neck. Repeat until cotton pad shows no residue. Explain that this step helps to close the pores and conditions your skin for the next step.

Benefits: Vitamin C - helps heal. Important to the formation of collagen and is an anti-oxidant.

Never apply cotton balls back to the tip of the bottle. Use fresh ones if you need more.

STEP 3: MOISTURIZING Using a Q-tip dot a small amount from bottle to chin, nose, forehead and cheeks. Then massage gently into the skin in an outward motion. Make circular strokes around the eye area towards the inner eye area and bridge of nose .Explain that this step helps protect the skin from the elements and replenish it's natural moisture.

STEP 4: FOUNDATION *  Apply a small amount to the tip of a Q-tip or sponge and dot a small amount to her chin, nose, forehead and cheeks. Then blend in an upward and outward motion. Explain that the foundation is the first step to applying make up and it helps protect the skin from the environment, it contains CQ10 an anti-aging ingredient. At his point let them know you also have press powders that are light, comfortable and leaves the face looking smooth, flawless and natural looking.

*To test the shade for your model apply a dot on lower jaw line and blend in. If it  disappears into the skin with no demarcation line this is her shade. Tell audience how to choose their foundation also.

STEP 5: EYE MAKE UP Starting at the lash line, apply the Base Color (A) first, and then apply the crease color in the crease area (B). Apply your Highlight Color in the highlight color area, (C) below the brow bone. Finally, blend the colors with a cotton ball or your fingertip to remove any obvious lines. If the colors are too bright tone them down with a little Translucent Powder.

If you feel comfortable doing it, shape and define her eyes with eyeliner after you've applied eye shadow and before applying mascara. Pencil eyeliner gives your eyes soft definition, while liquid versions offer precision and drama. You can also moisten dark eye shadow and apply it with a small, flat brush.

STEP 6: Apply her MASCARA Take out the mascara wand and roll it on a tissue to remove any excess product. Use disposable wands at your parties for health reasons. Don't pump the wand in the tube -- you'll introduce air and dry out the mascara.) Hold the wand at the base of the lashes, give the wand a wiggle and pull it through the lashes. Build volume with several thin layers rather than a single clumpy one. Clumps? Comb them out with an eyelash comb or a disposable plastic wand.

STEP 7: BLUSH*  Ask your model to smile and you will see the fleshy part of her cheek that stands out the most; this is the apple of your checks. This is your starting point for applying her blush. Using cotton balls or a Blush Brush (tap off any excess) apply a light layer of blush to the apples of her cheeks and blend up and back toward her hair line. It should go no closer to your nose, but directly beneath the iris of your eye; below nostril-level and into your temple hairline

Have the audience to find their cheekbones and at this time, ask the masque model to wash off her masque.

STEP 8: LIPSTICK and PENCIL

Define the outline of her lips with a professional lip brush or lip liner pencil that closely matches the color of the lipstick. Then apply the  lipstick and blend the liner with a lip brush. You may also use another shade of Lipstick to outline her lips instead of the Lip Liner.

While you are applying her Lipstick as your second model to wash her face to remove the Masque.

 STEP 9: Translucent Powder

Using a Powder Brush apply Translucent Powder over entire face. It keeps the face looking fresh and your Makeup will last longer. Pass her a hand mirror and let the audience do the talking about how beautiful she looks.

Next, have the second model to take a seat then draw the audiences attention to how clean her face looks to sell them on the masque.

Next, ask the audience to tell you the steps then proceed to tone, moisturize, and apply her Makeup using the above makeup steps while the audience participate by telling you what to do. Be sure to get the audience’s reaction on how it looks when you are through.

After that, bring up the consultant's opportunity, and explain that the Hostess can RECEIVE FULL HOSTESS CREDITS  if one or two of her friends decides to host a party of their own. (With a Tentative or definite date before they leave} Offer “SAY YES” gifts to those that agree to host a Party.

CHAPTER 7

Taking The Guest Order

The first objective of each Party you conduct is to replace that Party with one or more Parties to keep your business going.  Finding new Consultants to build your Team is next and last but not least, Sales.

As the demonstration is wrapping up, with your second model ask your Hostess to start serving her refreshments, the guests will now mingle around, and you can now tidy up your area for order taking which you should do while they are having their refreshments.

You will want to interact with each individual customer, starting with your two models. Take her order form from her and go over the spelling of name and address, etc. she has filled out earlier. Ask her did she learn anything from the party. Proceed with asking what skincare requirements she has. From her answer proceed to sell her the benefits of your daily basics skin care program. If she’s not interested? Then follow up with her daily makeup items she puts on [ foundation, blush, eye colors, mascara, lipstick, etc.]

You can suggest skin care essentials to her by looking at her skin. Does she has dark circles under her eyes? Suggest an age defying eye cream, or a concealer. Fine lines  showing? Suggest the ANTI-AGING cream.

Once you get the hang of this UP SELLING, you can find that you can easily work these additional products into the conversation. And many times, these women/men will decide to purchase one or two of the related products you suggested, and buy them on an impulse buy.

Go through each order and total it up, figuring out any sales tax and discounts. Make sure the calculations are correct. Always bring a calculator with you.

For each guest one-on-one  do this:

·    Ask them if they would like to host a party of their own?

·   Ask them if they could use an extra income doing what you are doing?

·      Leave your business card

·  Leave your e-mail address

Games are a great way to get the hostess and guests attention and get the Party going in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

                                                                                  HOLD THAT POSE

Ask everyone to respond to these questions by following directions, precisely.

  • · If you have a car and know how to drive hold up your  right hand.

· If you enjoy being around people, wiggle your fingers.

· If you have a phone and love to talk, hold up your left  hand.

· If you have lot of [fragrance]??____ products, raise your left leg.

· If you like money, and want more, raise your right leg.

Now pick one of the most enthusiastic people from those who have two hands and legs in the air. Have everyone else hold their position until guest comes up front. Then have the guest introduce themselves to the group and select a product you offer he or she wants to buy or has at home and have them demonstrate it. Tell them you have something special to talk to them about later. This is a great recruiting game. Give everyone a gift for being such a good sport.
